Cherry

Sweet cherry or wild cherry is widely grown in the UK, both for its fruit (special cultivars, often plugged onto a different stem) and its appearance. Usually this tree does not come in big pieces, but on the odd occasion we do get sizeable chunks.

Full details can be found here.

Cherry has a particular, but not unpleasant smell when worked. It generally turns very well, and a nice polish can be achieved. Colouration varies widely, although most pieces will eventually develop into a creamy orange.
