This is one of my favourite pieces to date. Inspired by shapes seen on Cindy Drozda’s website, and definitely an eye-catching piece in any collection. The center piece is essentially a box, with a lid on top, and it’s hollowed out as far as my hollowing tool would reach. It can be used with or without the stand. The lid is actually made from two pieces, a small piece of sycamore for the actual lid, and a finial made from cherry on top. You won’t see any difference, because the end product is stained a deep black, lacquered and then burnished to a high gloss.
