This box is made from bubinga and ash. Bubinga is an African hardwood, with a very nice figure and it polishes to a very nice natural sheen.
The lid on this box is made from a piece that was cut out of the main body and then inserted into an outer rim of curly olive ash, which provides some optical contrast (and also the necessary material to make up for the cut).
The finial is also made from Bubinga, and has a little gilt varnish on the slanted end.
Not a big box, but certainly big enough for some jewellery or other anything else wanting to be kept safe.
