Large elm dish

Elm is in short supply nowadays, after the Dutch Elm Disease killed of 90% of all the trees in the UK. Every now and then a piece can be had, and my trusty tree surgeon know I was going to like this (in fact, he got a bowl made for himself too, but that’s obviously not for sale).

Elm is quite soft, and this piece is spalted on top of it, making for an uneven surface even from light sanding. Nevertheless, the result is certainly stunning and will look even better on a black table.
